Quick start

Wrap your MCP server or register your REST API. Custena proxies every request, detects the agent's payment protocol, and settles automatically — you receive payouts with full EU AI Act Article 26 receipts.

Setup

1: initialize

npx custena init

Creates custena.config.json and links your account via device OAuth.

2: wrap your server

custena wrap -- your-mcp-server

Custena proxies your server and handles all payment protocols automatically.

Proxy URL → https://api.custena.com/proxy/{id}/...

Share this with agents. Custena detects their payment protocol and settles automatically.

How it works

  1. 1
    Agent calls your proxy URL
    Custena receives the request and checks whether the agent has included a payment.
  2. 2
    If unpaid — 402 challenge
    Custena responds with HTTP 402 and a payment challenge in whichever protocol the agent supports (x402, MPP, L402, or Platform Balance).
  3. 3
    Agent pays — request forwarded
    Once payment is verified, Custena forwards the request to your real server, returns the response to the agent, and records the transaction.
  4. 4
    You receive payouts
    Earnings accumulate in your Custena account. Withdraw to bank (fiat) or wallet (crypto) from the dashboard.

Pricing

Set pricing per service in the dashboard. Three modes:

  • Per-call — Fixed price per request, e.g. $0.01/call
  • Subscription — Monthly flat rate with unlimited or metered calls
  • Tiered — Price per call decreases at volume thresholds
